January Crazy Quilt Block Embellished

This is as far as I have gotten for the January Crazy Quilt Block Journey.
I am eventually going to finish it with more embellishing, but since it is
the last day of the month, I will get to it at a later time.

I am somewhat satisfied with it the way it is.  Some of the areas came out sort of
ruffled, and they are not as flat as I would like them to be.  I am not going
to take it too hard on myself, since this is my first block of this type.  In time,
I hope I can improve.

Any ideas of how to improve on this would be appreciated.  Please post a comment if you have any suggestions.

January Crazy Quilt Block Started

It's been a couple of weeks since my first post, and I am back now to show my progress on my newest try - Crazy Quilting.

This photo shows the first step of the block - stitching down the colored sections to the foundation.  It was kind of tricky getting the colors to look good to go with the focal point in the center - the Victorian Lady.

I am hoping to get this one completed by the end of the month, so I can post it in the 2018 Block Journey for crazy quilting.

I still have to embroider the seams - add any laces or trims - add extras such as more embroidery and beads, and the finalize it by trimming it down to size.

I am pleased with the way it is turning out.

My First Post

Welcome to my blog.  Enjoy your time here.

This is my first post for my very first blog.
Just wanted to try something new, so here goes.

My name is Esther and I live in Leland NC - USA.
I am originally from Carbondale PA.

I love to do needlework and shuttle tatting.
I have been tatting since 2013, and just recently
become interested in crazy quilting.

I tatted this doily from Sulky 12wt blendables cotton thread
in color #4072.  I entered it in the 2016 NC State Fair and
won a blue ribbon for my entry.

As for crazy quilting, I haven't made any blocks yet, but I
will be posting those as I complete them.
